The Bhutan Statistical System, led by the National Bureau of Statistics and assisted by PARIS21, conducted a NSS assessment validation workshop and NSDS strategic planning workshop on 1-5 June 2018.

This workshop was conducted to prepare the drafting of a new statistical plan that would support, among other things, the planning and monitoring requirements of the 12th Five-Year Plan of the Royal Government of Bhutan. Representatives from the 23 different government ministries/agencies agreed on a draft strategic framework, which contains recommended priority areas for the new NSDS. The NSDS strategic framework brings attention to improving trust on data, improving data quality, strengthening statistical institutions, establishing statistics authority, upgrading statistical infrastructure, institutionalisation statistics in governance, monitoring national development, building data user-producer engagement and feedback and rationalising statistical activities to produce core national indicators. The NSDS is set to be finalised in November 2018.
