ADAPT in Action

From 12-16 June, PARIS21 and the National Institute of Statistics (NIS) in Cambodia, organised the 2nd workshop on the Advanced Data Planning Tool (ADAPT). Participants included General Directorate of Planning from the Ministry of Planning and development partners along with the NIS team working on the National Strategy for the Development of Statistics (NSDS).

After making significant progress in the Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) data-gap assessment process, Cambodia is using ADAPT to review indicators contained in its National Strategic Development Plan 2014-2018. NIS will be using the tool to complement and harmonise the work done so far in SDG data gap assessments and feed into the work of the development of the NSDS for further consolidation. With a focus on the upcoming NSDS, this workshop layed the groundwork for data planning, for both short and long-term data goals. The new functionalities in ADAPT, including the translation of SDG indicators in Khmer were welcomed as an aid to strengthen advocacy around the SDGs.
