The Lao Statistics Bureau and the Philippine Statistics Authority both organised an NSDS country training workshop with assistance and support from PARIS21 on 12-14 December 2016 and 9-11 January 2017, respectively. These NSDS country training activities were organised in preparation for the development of each country's subnational statistics strategies.  This goal is for these subnational statistical systems to be more responsive to data needs at the local level.

In 2017, both countries will prepare subnational statistics strategies for their respective provinces and/or regions, specifically laying the framework of statistical programmes and activities that willsupport their local development agendas and help with the localisation of the SDGs.  PARIS21 will provide continued technical guidance to both countries as they develop their subnational statistics strategies.
