In collaboration with Malawi's National Statistical Office, PARIS21 invited journalists, spokespersons from the national statistical system line ministries and statisticians from the national statistical office to participate in the workshop 'Communicating Data through Visualization' in Salima, Malawi. The Commissioner of Statistics Ms Mercy KANYUKA officially opened the workshop (image).

The workshop, held from 23rd to 24th July, aimed at promoting statistical literacy, ensure statistical materials target the right audience, foster networking amongst journalists and government spokespersons and ensure citizens understand better statistical information. Some participants highlighted how the workshop de-mystifed data for them and taught them how to use official data sources and present information in a visual way.
