PARIS21 participated in the 8th meeting of the SAARCSTAT held in New Delhi India on 29-31 August to discuss the proposed RSDS preparation and strengthen regional statistical co-operation.  The participants agreed to launch a review of regional cooperation on statistics, milestones achieved following the implementation of the SAARCSTAT Action Plan 2005-2015 and the state of national statistical systems in the region. The results of the review will be used to prepare the RSDS in 2017 and will contain priorities for regional statistics development and capacity building. The RSDS for SAARC is envisioned to align with national priorities and address statistical requirements to monitor the regional development agenda while also taking into consideration the region’s priorities pertaining to the SDGs.
