Shahuda Aishath has been the Chief Statistician of Maldives Bureau of Statistics since 2013. She has worked in the nationals statistical office in different capacities over the past 25 years, and has gained extensive practical experience in the field of official statistics.
As Chief Statistician, she plays a lead role in the planning and implementation of population and housing censuses and major household surveys in Maldives. She has also been actively involved in the formulation and implementation of national strategy for the development of statistics and coordination of the national statistical system.
Ms. Shahuda served as chair of the ESCAP committee on statistics. She also represented the South Asia Region on the PARIS21 board.
