The 2030 Agenda is at the heart of the PARIS21 Strategy.
The PARIS21 Secretariat is engaged in the delivery and monitoring of the 2030 Agenda and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) at the global, regional, national and local levels. PARIS21 is the custodian of three SDG 17 indicators. PARIS21 also provides support to national statistical systems to report on SDGs, in particular through the promotion of SDG domestication and modernisation of statistical production and development of statistical capacity -- including financing. PARIS21 is also engaged with Voluntary National Review (VNR) and Voluntary Local Review (VLR) processes in pilot countries. PARIS21 contributes to the Inter-Agency and Expert Group on SDG Indicators (IAEG-SDGs).
The PARIS21 Secretariat is the custodian agency for three statistical capacity-related indicators of Goal 17: "Strengthen the means of implementation and revitalize the Global Partnership for Sustainable Development." The three indicators are:
Indicator 17.18.2
-
Number of countries that have a national statistical legislation that complies with the Fundamental Principles of Official Statistics
Indicator 17.18.3
-
Number of countries with a national statistical plan that is fully funded and under implementation, by source of funding
Indicator 17.19.1
-
Dollar value of all resources made available to strengthen statistical capacity in developing countries
Every year, PARIS21 contributes to the UN Secretary General's report on progress towards the SDGs by submitting country data and implementing advocacy campaigns.
